HashCat

HashCat is a password cracking/"recovery" tool for Windows,MAC, and Linux. This tool is used to brute-force passwords and use a dictionary as well and many techniques to breaking passwords. You can use it with a wordlist to find an exact match, a variation, a combination of wordlists. Its typically good for passwords that are about 7 characters or less. Note: longer passwords and more advanced hashing algorithms

will take longer to break. Some use many GPU's to crack passwords. Here's a brief tutorial on using HashCat:
