Here is a really cool presentation done by John Strand. He talks about some of the pitfalls of pentesters and how we can improve. Like going beyond Nessus scans and just printing a report, but looking at the informationals and doing some digging/exploration. John talks about being a hacker in the original sense of the word, that you go and you find how things work so you can break them. In addition to that he brings up the point that you need to take care of your customers, let them know where they failed but also where they succeeded and tell them how they can improve. Remember a pentest is not about how awesome you are, its about helping the company that hired you.
